What is Limmi?
Limmi is a smartphone and tablet app that lets you decide where apps are and aren't blocked based on where you and your children are in your home. Limmi allows users to define zones in their home environment where user-selected apps can be blocked (e.g. bedrooms, home offices) or unblocked (e.g. the living room). We aren't here to stop you or your children using social media etc. completely, we give you an ally to strike the right balance of providing parental controls and while giving your children freedom to form healthy relationships with technology.
How does Limmi work?
Limmi uses the latest location based technology whichs allows users through an app to quickly calibrate specific room level zones in their home, then select which apps should be blocked or unblocked in those zones. The app will need to be installed on the child's phone (but deleting the app can be blocked through parental controls, we can provide an easy to follow tutuorial on how to do this). Then once set up, Limmi works passively and automatically in the background
Can Limmi also do time-based blocking?
Yes! Limmi is a comprehensive system that can do both time-based and location-based blocking to best allow you to capture when the context is truly right to use certain apps
How easily can Limmi be "hacked"?
Not very easily! Limmi is a robust solution and we have worked hard to ensure the system is resilient. However, the Limmi app will need to be installed on your child's phone and they could delete the app, therefore we strongly recommend you use the existing parental control settings to prevent a child deleting the app (this is a straight foward process and we have an easy to follow tutorial on how to do this).
Is Limmi just for children?
Absolutely not, Limmi is intended to be an ally for the family as a whole. We encourage parents to follow the same restrictions they have set up for their children but of course this is not a requirement for Limmi to work.
